Kasaku woke in the entrance of a monastic shrine deep within the mountains with an ache inside him likened to the worst hunger imaginable- loneliness. Long abandoned was this shrine, by the look of things- a fire pit that hadn't known fresh tinder in cycles. Bo staves and Shakujo gathering dust along the walls, vestments befitting monks and naught else by way of luxuries or finery left to molder in empty rooms. He struggled to remember who he was with only remnants of memories. He'd had a master, someone he had been charged with keeping safe as his primary purpose, but he was not present. His temporary mission became locating him.Down from the isolated monastery he came at last, though it took him a while with only one leg- and he stopped in a little village at the foot of the mountain. Whispers of the place he'd come from ruminated in this outpost- that the mountains had become infested with Yokai and that no priests remained.

Devastated by this news, Kasaku roamed aimlessly back up through the mountain paths, sobbing openly, in search of any clues for a master whose face he couldn't even remember.At last, he crossed paths with an Au Ra crone residing alone in the mountains, and she asked him why he was crying. He told her that he was searching for someone, but with only one leg, traveling was a difficult tasks. She informed him that he was in fact a Yokai (though she did not specify what kind), and agreed to grant him a more convenient form if he would help her around the house for one full cycle. He did so, and the old Au Ra witch gifted him with a new body more in the style of her own. With far better balance as a man and a better understanding of language and the ways of the world after the year of serving her, Kasaku set out in search of his master again in earnest.

Kasaku gets exceptionally upset when others discard items or 'waste' things. If you litter, leave something behind, or treat items poorly-- he may have a stern word to share with you!

Kasaku is a samurai in training- and by that of course we mean he wishes that he was a samurai, and would like to receive training. In this pursuit, he is also seeking a master craftsman who will make him the perfect sword.
